“Chappell Roan on Leaving Acting Behind: From Aspiring Actress to Pop Star Sensation”

Chappell Roan, who once aimed to be an actor, now finds herself thriving as one of today's most dynamic recording artists. Though she initially pursued music as a stepping stone to acting, Roan soon realized that the entertainment industry was not for her.

In an interview with *Interview Magazine*, Roan shared that her move to Los Angeles made her reconsider her acting aspirations. “I originally started doing music because I wanted to get my foot in the door for acting,” she explained. “Then I moved to Los Angeles and thought, ‘Forget that.’ The industry felt overwhelmingly intimidating and beyond my control.”

Roan, despite her acting training, admitted that the prospect of acting remains extremely stressful for her. “I would rather get arrested,” she joked.

In a conversation with *Saturday Night Live* star Bowen Yang, published on Monday, Roan expressed that while she remains open to acting if the opportunity is right, she is currently focused on her burgeoning music career.

Her debut album, *The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess*, soared to No. 3 on the Billboard 200 albums chart this week, and her hit single “Good Luck Babe!” has secured a spot in the Billboard Hot 100’s top ten. Additionally, her track “Feminomenon” gained significant traction on social media after Vice President Kamala Harris featured it in a campaign post, and Roan has attracted record-breaking crowds at summer music festivals.

“I never really expected it to grow this big,” Roan told Yang. “Everything right now is truly icing on the cake.”
