Atlanta rapper Rich Homie Quan has passed away at the age of 34.

Rich Homie Quan, the Atlanta rapper renowned for his 2013 hit "Type of Way," has died at the age of 34, leaving behind a significant musical legacy.

Born Dequantes Devontay Lamar, Rich Homie Quan's death was announced on social media on September 5, 2024. Fellow musician Jacquees confirmed the news, expressing his grief with a heartfelt message on X (formerly Twitter). “Rest in Peace my brother, Rich Homie Quan. I love you for life. #Richgang,” Jacquees wrote.

Rich Homie Quan first gained major recognition with his breakout single “Type of Way” in 2013, which showcased his distinctive melodic rap style. His 2015 track “Flex (Ooh, Ooh, Ooh)” also achieved notable success, influencing the dance craze that inspired iLoveMemphis’ 2016 hit “Hit the Quan.”

Quan’s career was marked by his role in the group Rich Gang, where he collaborated with Young Thug and Birdman on the hit single “Lifestyle,” solidifying his impact on the hip-hop genre. Despite their eventual split, Quan remained supportive of Young Thug, especially during Thug’s legal battles under Georgia’s RICO Act.

Although some reports suggest an overdose might be the cause, no official cause of death has been confirmed at this time.
