"Tom Cruise Stuns at Paris 2024 Closing Ceremony with Dramatic Abseil and Hollywood Handover"

Hollywood superstar Tom Cruise made a spectacular entrance at the Paris 2024 closing ceremony on Sunday night, abseiling from the roof of the Stade de France. The crowd erupted in excitement as Cruise, dressed in a leather jacket and gloves, descended into the stadium while H.E.R. played guitar.

In a memorable handover to Los Angeles, which will host the 2028 Olympics, Cruise appeared in a pre-recorded segment traveling from Paris to the U.S. He journeyed to the iconic Hollywood sign and unfurled the Olympic colors, signaling the end of Paris's hosting duties.

Thomas Bach, President of the International Olympic Committee, praised the Paris Games as "sensational" in his closing speech. He commended the athletes for their "amazing" performances and highlighted the spirit of unity and peace they brought to the Olympic Village, despite global conflicts.

Cruise’s closing ceremony stunt included taking the Olympic flag from American gymnast Simone Biles and zipping away on a motorbike, adding to the excitement. The pre-recorded segment featuring Cruise was set to the music of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, who performed their classic hit "Can't Stop" live on a beach in Los Angeles. Other performances included Billie Eilish and Snoop Dogg, with Dr. Dre joining Snoop on stage.

Cruise, known for his daring stunts in films like "Mission: Impossible," added to the spectacle with his dramatic appearance. His role in the ceremony had been a well-kept secret, despite rumors circulating prior to the event. The 62-year-old actor had been seen around Paris during the Games, supporting the U.S. team and admiring the athletes' achievements.

Artistic director Thomas Jolly also contributed to the ceremony’s cinematic feel with a segment featuring dancers rolling giant rings to form the Olympic logo. This was followed by a high-energy performance by French band Phoenix, who energized the crowd with their music as athletes joined them on stage.

Jolly, who had previously orchestrated the Games' ambitious opening ceremony with a River Seine boat parade and Céline Dion’s return, completed the Paris 2024 Games with a memorable closing act.
